This year, be part of a heartwarming community tradition at the 20th Annual Lisa Muegge Feast of Plenty and make Thanksgiving memorable for everyone.
Hundreds of volunteers will be serving up delicious meals at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds for those who need a little extra help this season. Whether you’re looking to dine in, pick up a meal, have one delivered to your door, volunteer or donate, they are here to ensure everyone has a joyful Thanksgiving!
This year is slated to be one of the biggest yet, and the community’s help is needed to continue Lisa’s legacy of love and service. On this same date in 2024 360 requests had been received. This year, there have already been 1400 requests submitted, and crews are anticipating over 6000 individual meals.
The fairgrounds location serves families from East Marion, Hancock, Madison, Henry, and adjacent counties. A second Rushville location serves Rush, Shelby and adjacent counties.
In addition to their Thanksgiving meal, families receive a grocery bag with pantry staples and cleaning supplies.
This year the biggest needs are grocery bag donations, monetary donations, and volunteers.
Grocery bags include:
· 1-jar of jelly
· 1-jar of peanut butter
· 1- jar of pasta sauce
· 1-box of pasta
· 1-bag of beans
· 1-bag of rice
· 4-cans of vegetables/fruit
· 1-box of granola bars
· 2-bar of soap
· 4 pack of toilet paper
· Bottle of liquid dish detergent
Any community members looking to donate a complete grocery bag, may drop it off at Hancock Regional Hospital or at the Fairgrounds on Tuesday or Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. If you are donating a large volume of bags, please visit their website and fill out the grocery bag donation form.
